I think because it's very vulgar and is used in a negative connotation... I use it though haha. I think showing you're insulted only proves that you've been bothered by something and the other person has "won"...if someone uses that word I laugh it off and say wow that was weak...they tend to get pissed and leave it at that...

I've never been called that luckily but it would not really bother me, since it is such a generic word.
I would be affected the most by someone saying that I was worthless.
