Alrighty, well im planning on going the Stern NYU for business. I want to know exactly how this works. If I stay for 5 years, can I graduate with a master’s degree just like that?

By the time I enter college in the fall semester I’ll be 17, so im planning on graduating at 22ish.

Does this sound about right? Can I actually just stay and complete 5 years of studies and be on my way with a masters?

FYI im now a junior majoring in business

It is possible with hard work and a little luck.

The luck comes into play with course scheduling. Some courses are not offered every semester, so you may have to plan a couple years in advance what you will take, or you may find you can't take all of your requirements in such a short time because of scheduling issues.

The hard work part is that a Bachelors + a Masters degree is supposed to take six years. With an overloaded schedule, never needing to drop a class, and attending summer school every year, you could finish in five years.

Why would you want to do it to yourself though? It might save you a year of tuition (I'm not sure about this though--some schools charge extra if you overload your schedule), but it will be constant hard work with no vacation, and when you are done playtime is over and the real world starts, and you didn't even play at all during playtime! It is good that you are willing to work so hard, but you sound like you are going to drive yourself a little too much. You know whether you can pull it off--but it seems like a sure path to ulcers and nervous breakdowns to me.

In addition, taking on a normal load allows an excellent student to learn more at college than is required in class--you have a wealth of knowledge available in your professors and libraries, but all you'll be working on is assignments. You won't have time to learn about topics you want to study more in-depth than what is taught to you in class, and it will definitely reduce your relaxation and play time--which I think you'll need more than you know.

Five years is a long time to put the nose to the grindstone without a vacation. Some people take five years to finish four years of school--there is really no need to rush six years of school into five.

This sound like a fast track major. Hunter offers it as well. What happens is that as you finish your bachelors in business you also start towards your masters. Don't think by any means that this is an easy thing. You have to do work towards two degrees together. But, yes you can complete your master's in 5 years.

it all depends on the school...I have no idea about NYU's programs...the college i went to, you graduated with a bachelors degree and then if you wanted to continue on to a master's degree you had to reapply, take the GREs (the graduate version of the SATs), have an interview and all this other stuff...talk with your admissions dept. they'll answer you
