Abe Lincoln. Republican....ANTI-SLAVERY

Democrats.....PRO-SLAVERY

Democrats hate the fact that they were on the wrong side of the issue, and try to forget their past. If you want to...try to find 1 single thing that the democrat party has done to help minorities. All they ever do is promise them the world and deliver nothing. Democrats have been exploiting minorities for decades. Always bait and switch. To this day, democrats don't want minorities to be free. They are happy with minorities having to be beholden to the government, so they can control everything they do, and vote for. Republicans have always wanted everyone to be free, and independent of the government.
examples.---
Right for blacks to vote.....signed by Republicans
Abolition Of slavery----signed by Republicans
Civil Rights Act----Signed by Richard Nixon

Turmoil in the 60's
John F. Kennedy
Linden Johnson
(also responsible for the Vietnam War...Nixon got us out)

Liberals don't believe in Freedom. They have tried to stop every single measure that would grant people freedom. Where are their cries for Darfur??? Why does every single case of Imminent Domain Abuse have a Democrat at the helm?

Look at actions....not words.

Of course your history book isn't going to tell you. Were you aware that about 60% of history taught in American high schools is bogus or expanded beyond it's original structure? Didn't think so, and that's okay because neither did I until later in life. Anyhow, the republican platform was one of basically being liberal, ironically. I always love how republicans love to say Abe Lincoln was a republican.....yes, but they're never aware that he was in all definitions....a liberal. I find it amusing. Their platform was one of the people, kind of how the democratic platform is today. They believed in a "kinder, gentler" government, one that would ultimately protect all persons and things. The republican party was the new, "grassroots" party, one that the federalists and parliamentary parties didn't dig a bit. Remember, the whigs became the republicans, so if you want, find out about the whigs and go from there. good luck, Jack

During the Civil War the Republican party resembled the Democrats today. The Republicans were the liberal party.
