Are you for real ? I am sure you are having a laugh aren`t you? In the U.K. you don`t apply for a job as a spy. If our secret service require an employee, they invite someone to join them. I guess they have to be fairly intelligent, but apart from that, they will be taught any necessary skills that may be needed in their work. I would imagine that your nationality would be a disadvantage, because a country rarely employs staff in this area unless they are native born. One would reason that it may be expected of an Englishman that he would if necessary die for England; but one would not expect a non national to do the same, no matter which country he came from. I would suggest that you apply for a job with your own government.

If your "criminal record" is for minor juvenile misdemeanors, you've got a shot. If it's for anything more serious, it would be much, much more difficult. The more serious, and the more lengthy, your record, the more difficult it is to get ANY government job, much less one such as you've described. But as for what to study, get to a GOOD college, get a bachelor's in political science, or economics, or some other serious subject (art doesn't cut it), and then get to and through law school if you can. Then apply to the FBI and CIA. It helps if you are FLUENTLY multi-lingual.
