Hank is right. If you like the taste of charcoal grilling, there's a spread-on stuff sold in the section of the store that sells ketchup, that you just apply to the meat to be grilled. But do all outdoor-type cooking outside, anything that requires burning something that must be brought in separately to be burned to produce fire: propane, butane, charcoal. Even gas stoves should have some type of air venting unit, and any house that employs gas for heating, cooking or clothes drying should have a CO detector. This is the time of year that you see in the news an increase in the number of people dying from CO poisoning and in fires because they used the wrong appliance for the wrong purpose. This applies to unmonitored kerosene heaters, too. (Why do people use those things!?)

You can use charcoal in a properly installed stove (wood stove).
You can also use charcoal in a fireplace but I recommend a modern properly constructed fireplace with the glass "oven door" type front.
Any other use is dangerous because of carbon monoxide.

They need proper ventilation and a grill doesn't have it so the smoke from it will fill the room.
