I recently installed an Alpine 7894 60W reciever into my Cougar and that along with the cold is causing the battery to not have enough juice to start the car every so often. So I was thinking about going with an Optima red top battery because it has 800 CCA which should be enough to get my car going, but I don't know if the cables are going to reach the terminals. Are there different types of Optima red topes. If so which one would match my Cougar. The terminals on the current battery are red/left and black/right and they are towards the top of the battery looking into the compartment, but since the cables just barely reach these terminals I didn't think they would reach the terminals on the Optima battery that are more towards the center. Can anyone help who has possibly done this before or that knows what battery would fit into my car. Thanks.
