Educate yourself on what's going to happen. I've had 3 c sections and by the 3rd I wasn't so nervous. Granted I was still nervous, but felt better knowing what was going to happen. Call your Dr and have him/her walk you through what will happen and why.

EDIT:

My first c-sect was an emergency, also. The babies heartbeat dropped so drastically that they had me in surgery and under in like 10-15 minutes. It was very scary and I since I had no idea what was happening etc. You were probably under for your first, as I was with my emergency one. I really think that my recovery a lot harder. With my 2nd I was awake and my recovery seemed a lot smoother.
Really try and relax--you'll be okay!!! At this point, you really don't have a choice, so try and make the best of it!!

Oh sweetie...I had a c-section in March and I am 36 years old. It's over in like 20 minutes. The worst of it is a little numbing they give you for the spinal, which feels like a tiny bee sting. You don't even feel the spinal or anything while it's going on. I was even talking and joking with the doctors.

Your hormones are at an all time high and will be this way, and things will be very dramatic for the 1st couple days after birth..add to that the unknown and it can be frightening, even terrifying.

Try meditation, even guided mediatation. You can download stuff off the net. And you can email me if you have any questions

FYI it is sore afterwards, like any birth would be. What got me through it all was I knew there were people in that hospital getting it a lot worse than me, like cancer patients, and I knew I had a positive outcome...

We are both in the same loop believe me I am due Dec. 27th and I am scheduled for a section on Friday the 15th of Dec. so we are really close together. I hope you have a very supportive hubby that will help. Why are you having the c-section Mine is because the baby is already estimated to weight 9 lbs 14 oz and she is breech. Let me know what happens my email is cuvengas@yahoo.com or carmenjesusvenegas@yahoo.com I use the last email more often though. I need to talk to someone in the same boat as me At least now you know you are not the only one going through this. Good Luck we both need it

You need to take a deep breath. A lot of women have very successful c-sections. I know that it's not very desirable to have a major surgery like that but it's done everyday. Just think of how in a week you'll have a wonderful baby to hold and take care of. Try thinking about that. They numb you up so you won't feel the pain, just some pressure. It is a nerve racking situation but how exciting that you're going to be a mommy in a week!!!!! Congrats and good luck.

It's ok-I have had a c-section 19 months ago and am having another one in 10 weeks. You cannot feel anything-I promise. You are completely numb down there and they always do a small pin poke test on you before you start to make sure you do not feel anything.Also-they put a drape up by your head so you cannot see anything at all.Your hubby-or partner also gets to sit with you the entire time. They give you oxygen through your nose so you have plenty of air.The entire process took about 20 min from start to finish.he baby was out within about 5.You will be perfectly fine!If it was that bad I would not be going through it a 2nd time!

Focus on the reward. You'll have your body back, and a baby to enjoy. And the best part is, you know when and how soon.

You can either decide to freak out about it, or decide you're not going to. Thats your choice.

Everything will be just fine. Watch lots of movies (NO sad ones) and go get a manicure/pedicure. My daughter-in-law just had a C section and all went just fine. Good Luck.
