I think around your early 40's late 40's is a little old. Just up to the person though. I'm 21 and my hubby will be 28 when the baby is born. Just depends on lots of things.

I know it's a cliche, but age is a state of mind. You get some "old" 30 year olds and you get some "young" ones. I'm 32 and am still up with all the trends and listen to cool music and can relate to younger people. I'm also 21 weeks pregnant with my first child. I've had a great life filled with lots of travel and experiences and am more settled and patient than a teenager or when I was in my 20's. If I had to nominate an age considered too old to have children, I'd probably say anything over 40 is pushing it, but maybe up to 45. Like I said, depending on whether they are a "young" 45 or not.

I personally don't think there is any specific age, as long as you are both healthy enough to care for the child and give birth to a healthy baby then you are never to old.
Now if you are a 65 year old couple and you are just starting, I would say good for you if you can do it but you are starting way to late.
Just as long as both the parents are healthy enough to get around on their own without tons of medication and any serious health problems that the child could be 5 and loose their parent to a disease that was pre existing then yeah its probably to old.

I honestly think that past 45 is way too old to be having children. I mean it really doesn't make a difference for the man, but the woman risks so much such as birth defects, autism, mental retardation, etc. of the baby. My husband and I personally decided to have our children before 30 so we can still keep up with their energy, relate to them more and have our 40's to ourselves.
Good Luck!

With people these days living longer, and taking better care of themselves, I would say that the Mid 40's might be the cut off time.
Pregnancy may still be viable for some couples after that, but you have to remeber that as your child grows older, so do you. I don't want to be in my 70's at my childs graduation.

I can tell you what is NOT too old--I was 37 when my youngest was born and his father was 41. And I'm 38 now and may have one more!
I also have a 17 year old.....
