I don't care for it at all. Maph would sound like you couldn't say "Math" correctly. For some reason the name Mapherdy makes me think of a shepherd. I think you ought to come up with another name.

tell your cousin to think about this....
her child, if she so chooses a crazily spelled and/or pronounced name, will from the FIRST day of school on have to correct people EVER DAY!

I would not name my child that, there are way to many nice names out there,to choose something like that ,that would bring tonnes of teasing upon him.
