Do you have to be devious and underhanded to make it to the top in a career, or business, or polotics. Is power really corrupting or is corruption an essential tool in gaining power in the first place. Its often said that poloticians get corrupted by power but when you eventually learn how they made it to the top in the first place you discover that thery were totally corrupt to begin with and lied and cheated to get to the top.

There's an old saying that says: "Absolute power corrupts, absolutely." And I too think that this is far more common than it is for corruption to lead to power. It is human nature, unfortunately, to become addicted to power once it is attained, and more often than not this addiction is strong enough to cause a person to lower their moral standards in order to maintain it. But as far as corruption leading to power: maybe sometimes, but by itself corruption is NOT enough to make one powerful. Skill and opportunity are also needed. And we must remember: it is only a SMALL percentage of powerful people who are corrupt. It jsut seem like more because the media harps on them and they are more newsworthy than honest, hardworking powerful individuals.

If you have power, you want money in exchange for the use of that power.
