I think that there is NOTHING wrong with Oprah. She is not a sell out nor do I think that she wants to be white. I think that the entire issue here is that she is a successful, powerful, black woman who works her butt off. Because she is well educated, does not live in ghetto-ly conditions, and she speaks proper grammar, some of the black community (50 Cent namely.... who, by the way, can't even spell his rap name right, it is a multiple of cent, therefore, it's cents) think of her as a sell out because she doesn't wear Baby Phat or talk about drama of her own on the show. She is just rich and successful. If some think she's a sell out, then so be it. I personally think that his comment is unclassy, below the belt, underhanded, and just plain rude. I'm sorry that your career is bombing and you have nothing better to do than take cheap shots at successful people.
I'm not successful, nor am I Oprah. But I've been through the same thing. I grew up in a town with nothing but white people (other than my relatives... I'm black BTW) and I moved to the ghetto part of mid-town Kansas City. I've been called it all.... oreo, half breed, wanna be, just because I was well educated, I don't speak Ebonics, and I don't wear Baby Phat or Prada (which is usually FRAUD-a from what I've seen ghetto princesses wear).
I'm not trying to take cheap shots.... I'm SO proud of my heritage, where I've been, and where I'm going in life. It's just people like 50 Cent who make comments as such leave a horrible taste in my mouth.

Did he really call her an oreo? I haven't heard that term being used for someone since I was a kid in the 80's. I can't stand it when my folk call my other intelligent, well educated folk oreos. Oprah is who she is, someone who rose up from a bad childhood and made a huge success of her life. He needs to get a grip and worry about his own self because Oprah sure isn't worried about him!
I have to add that I too was called an oreo in school by my fellow black classmates. Just because I spoke proper english and didn't speak ebonics (which wasn't even a term back then) just to fit in when they tried to make me feel badly about it.. I didn't apologize for it then and I wouldn't now. My parents (both from the South) spoke properly in our house and it was passed on to me. I had a lot of friends of different races growing up, I lived in a very diverse neighborhood and def. a product of that environment. It just burns my last grit when my fellow africian americans feel they have to insult other blacks because they don't talk slang or act ghetto. Instead of being proud of each others accomplishments, they choose to bring them down out of jealousy.

No. I think it's a pretty cheap insult, too. If he has a problem with her, he should explain his opinion fully instead of resorting to name calling.
