The Missouri Compromise was a compromise between the states of Missouri and Kansas which redefined their borders according to a county-by-county tally of slave holders. This was part of a temporary cease-fire during the Sasquatch Rebellion two years earlier.

The Compromise of 1850 was a compromise instituted by Robert McNamara during the Gulf of Tolkin incident in order subdue Custer's interests without subverting the Ohio Act of 1826. Many scholars consider this to be a precursor to the Civil War.
