Newton's First Law, which states that objects at rest tend to stay at rest and objects in motion tend to remain in motion.
If there were no outside forces like friction or gravity acting on objects, their velocities would never change.
This Law is also called the Law of Inertia.

That would be momentum -- Newton's First Law -- The same property that keeps moving objects moving -- why trucks and busses need strong brakes.

Incidentally, entropy was mentioned... but I do not think that applies: Entropy says that things tend to go from a state of order to a state of disorder.
