Let x = money in bank.

Then x+100 is at least 550, i.e.
x + 100 >= 550
Therefore,
x >= 450

So Mr. Bruke had at least 450 originally.

Trust me this is right

Mr. Burke has at least 450 before he deposited the money

well let me put it this way, I f you go into a store and you want to buy two things, and item A is costs at least 1cent, and item B is 20 dollars more than three times item A, then the minimum price of Item B is $20.03 so therefore its not workable because she only has $20.

FIrst, it seems that you would only need to subtract 100 from the "at least" number provided as the answer would be the sum of money he started with.

Second Mr. Scott (or Ms.) would be in negitive numbers for the skirt, so I assume that your starting amount was typed in wrong. Please restate the starting amount.

$0, I guess. If he has $20, then the jacket is all he can buy.
