"Acting"?

It's all a process of using the imagination. Often, an actor will be called upon to "see" something that is beyond the sightlines of the audience. In other words, the actor/character is supposed to see it, but the audience is not. An actor uses his/her imagination to "see" that object, and to deal with it as though it was really there.

They are pretending, fantasizing, making believe, putting themselves in the moment and they call it acting.

Imagination. At least, that's how I would define it. Focused imagination, to be more technical, I guess.
