Are recruitment agencies necessary in society?

i work for one and they suck, we get paid half what the guys who work for the company get, the company using the agency can get rid of us any time with just a weeks notice, ive been living in limbo like this for 6 months, there should be laws against this!!!

It is a useful way of filtering out the rubbish, so you can get on with the proper job.
