funny, the rest of the world finds an accent so exotic and quite attractive.

but if you MUST, then i suggest "hooked on phonics", i am not kidding. it will teach correct pronounciation and enunciation.

a friend of mine from colombia, as an adult, learned how to speak proper english by watching sesame street and is now a teacher in an elementary school.

i have found that reading OLD english style books and listening to the news and then repeating the word until i can mimick it's sound works for me.

1. What does this have to do with besuty and style? Because if you think having an american accent is stylish, there is no "American accent," everyone has their own accent. 2. If you look filipino, but you get rid of your accent, it will be really weird. If you still want to change your accent get a voice coach.

You could take voice lessons. It might be pricey though but it should definelty help!

Can't say that I blame you. I have a friend named Mernie who I work with. She's was born in the Phillipines and came to the U.S. when she was 5! Today she is 42 and still sounds like she just got off the ship. Whenever we go out, the waiter/tresses have no idea what she's saying and I end up ordering for her to help them out. But it's really funny and I couldn't imagine her without it!

Good Luck!

Depending on where you live will depend on how quick you get rid of it. I lived in a predominantly anglo area and my accent disappeared really quick. Also watch a lot of American movies and emulate the actor's accent.

it may take a while, but if you do not live around others that have a filipino accent, it will just go away

Why hate who you are. Do not change yourself to "fit in" with others. Your accent makes you unique! You should be proud of who you are and where you came from!

why do you want to? That is obviously your heritage and you SHOULD be proud of where you came from.
as long as you learn the language of the country you are living in, please do not worry about your accent.
Do you realize that there are many many people who actually cultivate an accent just to be different?
Keep it and be proud!!!

You should embrace it and be proud.

But if you really, truly want to work on making it disappear, seek out a speech therapist. Train yourself.
