You find the area of the 50 m diameter circle and divide that by two. Area of 50 m diameter circle = pi x diameter x diameter / 4 = 3.1416 x 50 x 50 / 4 = 1963 square meters. Divide this by two to get 981.7 square meters. Your text book answer is wrong.

Alternatively, area of 50 m diameter circle = pi x radius x radius = 3.1416 x 25 x 25 = 3.1416 x 625 = 1963 square meters. Divide this by two to get 981.7 square meters. Again, your text book answer is wrong.
