I have 7 month old twins. I was lucky enough to be able to deliver them naturally. A C-section should only be used as a last resort. Keep in mind that the twins will be smaller than a normal single birth there is a huge difference between pushing out a 5 lb baby and a 9lb baby, even if there are two of them. If you are worried about pain, go for the epidural, it helps. My biggest concern was that I would wind up having one child naturally and a c-section for the other. However, I followed all of my OB's advice and was able to safely deliver both at 37 weeks. I was up and walking within 12 hours of the birth and I was practically back to normal and in my old jeans within 2 weeks. That never would have happened with a C-section.

Congratulation and best of luck! I wanted twins so badly, but I am having a singleton.
A c-section should only be done if medically necessary.
It is not -- and shouldn't be -- an "elective" procedure. The recovery time is much longer with a c-section, because you get a huge incision that cuts all the way through your abdomen. This can take weeks and weeks to heal, and you don't want to be laid up so long when you have little twins to take care of. Your doctor will decide if you need to have one, and if you do, you do. But vaginal is a much easier recovery.
If you don't need one, and you are a candidate for waterbirth, I think it sounds wonderful! I am hoping to do a waterbirth, but I haven't talked about it with my doctor yet.

I went 19 hrs into labor, then a c-section-ended up having a 9lb 10oz baby... could have been 2 babies lol... he was very healthy... anyways, it was super painful... I recommend trying natural if you can- waterbirths I hear are great, I personally went into the labor wanting natural- no epidural, but once the labor started, it was too painful for me, so I ended up getting the epidural. Everyone is different though. If your babies are turned the right way, and you can, try to have a vaginal birth. You can always change your mind if you want an epidural or not. There's a possibility with twins you could end up in c-section, but honestly, if you don't have to, please don't! I'm still a little traumatized from mine...and am scared to have another, although alllll of that pain I had, was definitely worth it- my son is amazing.
P.S. as far as names- I'd make them completely different names, but that's just me... i like it when twins are dressed in different outfits, and have their own personality.

Twins can be different as far as delivery. I know they usually have you deliver in the OR because of the higher risks. Multible births are much trickier and have to be monitored. I had a friend who delivered one natural but the other was breech and they had to do and emergency csection. I would research the best you can and find what will be the most comfortable for you. I had a csection and it wasn't horrible like some people say. If you decide on csection make sure you can find someone to stay with after for a about a week after you get home because you don't move as quickly after a surgery and it will be harder with two. As far as names I would find some that you like and when you have the babys look at them and see which names suite the baby.

If you want waterbirth or natural, talk to your hospital or midwife about it. It may be hard to find a midwife willing to do twins, but don't give up if that's what you really want. Feel free to email me for more info.

First of all -- Congrats!!!!
You doctor can recommend different types of birth choices (sometimes the hospital only allows certain kinds) and IF there are complications, you might not have a choice. My daughter had twins naturally.
Names - boys? girls? both? Do you want family names? If you just found out, you have time to research.
Good Luck and Congrats again -- they are soooooo much fun!!

Just so you know, whatever way you decide to have them, know that most twins come early, so I wouldn;t "plan" on a way to have them that is going to take a lot of set up. sound a like names are cute, but as a health care provider names like jenna and jenna with an accent mark pronounced jenay are not fun. or jenne pronounced jenay either. PLEASE make them far enough appart that people know which baby they are dealing with.
