cichlids are mouth brooders, which means that after the eggs are laid and fertilized the female will pick them up in her mouth and hold them for 3-4 weeks. the signs are her tummy becomes very round and then it will look like she is holding a marble in her mouth!!

I've always heard that the signs were sudden irritability, strange food cravings and morning vomiting.
