ok...
think about it ....
think of 2 whole circles....
you have half of one surface painted on one circle....(the other half is *NOT* painted)
& with the other circle you have 3/4 of its surface painted....(meaning 1/4 is *NOT*)

which circle would you say has a larger painted surface?.....

it's the 3/4 circle.

(i don't know anyother way to explain that... google it if you need further help)

Note that 1/2 = 2/4.
So 3/4 > 2/4 = 1/2.

Ok. 3/4 is bigger. Think about it like this - 2/4 is the same as 1/2. That's because you can simplify 2/4 to 1/2. A simple way to tell which fraction is bigger is to make them all have the same denominator, then all you have to do is compare the numerators. For instance, if you had 7/9 and 5/6 all you would have to do is multiply 7/9 by 6/6 (because thats the same thing as one and will make the denominator the same) and then 5/6 by 9/9. Once you did that you would see that 5/6 is actually 45/54 and 7/9 is 42/54 so 5/6 is bigger. Hope this helps.

3/4 is bigger than 1/2.

you know this because if u make a common denomenator then u will find that 1/2 is the same as 2/4
so u know that 3/4 is bigger than 2/4
so 3/4 is bigger.

if u want an example think of it like this. you have a pie and ur mom says that you can either eat 1/2 or 3/4 (and its a really good pie!!!) so u cut the pie into 4 pieces. if u eat 2 of them then u ate 1/2, and if u eat 3 of them then u ate 3/4.... and you'll want to eat 3/4 because its rlly good pie so u want to eat the most!

yummy pie

3/4 is bigger.

3/4 = 75%
1/2 = 50%

Wouldn't you rather have a 75% on your math test than a 50%?

what is more four slices of pizza or 6? There are 8 slices in a pie so 1/2 of the pie is 4 slices and 3/4 the pie is 6 slices.

Don't listen to the people calling you dumb. I do graduate research in math and i had to think about it too.

Take a cookie and cut it into 2 parts. take one half (1/2) and set it aside. Take another cookie of the same side and cut it into four parts. take three of the pieces (3/4) and compare to the half that you set aside. Which is bigger?

Think about it this way. If you had a cake and you split it into 4 pieces and then proceeded to eat 3 of those 4 pieces, it would be more cake than if you had the same cake, cut it into 2 pieces and ate just one piece of it. get it?
