I think your chicilid is pregnant, she may be getting her nest ready for her eggs, observe her behavior with other males in the tank, is she a bit rounder than usual? They will usually pick a spot and if their is competition for the spot they will rarely move. Other thing to look is if she is going to the surface to gulp air which means your oxygen levels in the water is very low.

She may have a problem with her swim bladder. A swim bladder is an organ that helps a fish to float. If it wants to go down to the bottom, it will let air out. If it wants to go to the top, it will take air in. Fish that have problems with their swim bladders tend to swim funny... sometimes swimming sideways, or vertical. Some won't be able to sink down to the bottom of the tank no matter how hard they try. Look up fish diseases on the net to find ways to help this. Most fish disease websites have a section on swim bladders. Good luck!

Sounds like she has a problem with her swim bladder. It's what allows the fish to go up and down in the tank and if there is a problem with it, they don't swim normally. The guy that owns the pet shop here in my home town has checked out several of my fish when they have started acting funny, and that is usually what has happened to mine...their swim bladder isn't functioning properly anymore. Good luck.
