Try "Euopa, Europa." It's a foreign film about a Jewish boy who passes as Aryan.
"The Pianist" starring Adrian Brody is excellent. It's a lot like "Schindler's List."
"Windtalkers" is pretty good too. It's directed by John Woo and stars Nicholas Cage. It's about the Navajo Indians and how they used their language to transmit unbreakable codes.
"THe Best Years of our Lives" is old movie but they actually used WWII veterans for actors. One of them even won an Oscar.

Rome, Open City deals directly with the effects of WWII. It was done by filmmaker Roberto Rossellini (and was co-written with Federico Fellini) and is considered among the first Italian Neo-Realist films.
