I want to buy my mum a shawl, a warm one in a deep/rich dark colour. Wallis used to sell items like this but not anymore. They are rectangle shaped with a cut in the middle so one part can be draped over your shoulder to keep you warm. Are they even called shawls?

Barbados Chick- That is actually a very good idea, that way can pick a really nice colour in a fabric I like and get someone to make it in exactly the way I like it......hmmm

Seriously, go to the fabric store and buy fleece to the measurement you want.... cut it and prestoe!! If you want something more substantial, buy two matching pieces - perhaps one solid the other pattern, cut slits along the edges and tie together to form tassles......cut the
"neck opening" and presto - refersable shawl that is washable, crease proof and cuddly
