I know of an equine massage therapy course that you can take from home & get certified. I went to the school, but they realize that not everybody can so they offer distance learning. You can call or e-mail them with questions as you go. E-mail me through Yahoo!Answers if you would like more info.

Honestly I went to college for Equine management and I think it was the biggest rip off. I learned more by working as a groom on the track. Working at stables. Unless you are going to work for a feed company or an equine company, I do not think you need to be certified in equine studies....
I did not get one job by saying I am certified in Equine management, but I did get jobs when the horses I rode started winning at circuit "a" level.
So my advice to you is go work for a big horse operation... start at the bottom and work your way up. You will learn all you need to know and then some.
Good Luck!

Yikes I hope not, sorry hon but the best way to learn is by doing. You can learn a lot of basics, biology, physiology, theory, but until you've done it in-person nobody's going to give you a job working with their horses.
I would study my brains out on available books to learn the ins-and outs of horses, then contact anyone and everyone in my desired field looking for someone to take me on as an apprentice.
You wouldn't let your kid go to daycare with someone who got their license and education online?
You wouldn't go to a teacher who got his degree online?
You wouldn't see a doctor who got a degree online?
Same with horse people, they want experience and training.
