First I'd like to say that I don't agree or disagree with PETA's actions/goals. I also believe that all life is important and should not be prematurely ended without good reason.

For instance, if someone smacked a mosquito, which most people do, that's acceptable. But when a dog or cat, for instance is killed intentionally, then PETA comes into the picture.

I would just like to know where they as a group draw the line when acting to protect certain animals.

It's basically whatever is in vogue.
Generally it's related to fur and feathers.
To most PETA people that is more important than starving children.
I belong to the other PETA, People Eating The Animals.

PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. They focuse their attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. Why they do not classify mosquito's is more then likely because no one really pays attention to an insect. There is a difference between an INSECT and an "animal". Hope you can understand what I am saying. I do not agree or disagree with Peta's actions I do not personally chose to wear fur or feel animals should be killed just so we humans can wear their skins. And I don't think animals should be used in experiments but due to these experiments our drugs for treatments of illness are safer and have saved many lives so the taking of maybe a dozen animals to save one child in my opinion is worth it. However by personal choice no 4 legged land dwelling animal will touch my lips. But hell yeah I'll wear leather those cows fed someone they werent killed just for their hide

P.E.T.A People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. People do care about living things and dont want animals to suffer. The key word there is suffer. P.E.T.A. doesnt want the chickens stuffed into cages while they are living and die slowly in that cage. They dont want people experimenting on animals that live afterwards and suffer from extreme pain without pain releaf. There are more effective ways of experimenting without the use of animals. But you seem to have a problem with people caring about something that cant care for itself, so I just feel sorry for you, you are a very unhappy person.

The put front and center any animal that will get them money. PETA doesn't really care about animals or they wouldn't kill them, yes I have proof. And before you ask I'm anti-PETA I make no secret about that. I'm anti-PETA for many reason, too many to list here.

PETA likes any animal below humans. If you are a human, they could care less.

Fish and roaches. I always thought that their time would be better spent protesting slave labor in Taiwan or forced prostitution and slavery in Russia, but whatever. It's a free country.

PETA protects roaches...that's as low as you can go.
