I seriously get way more work done when they are not in the office than when they are. Is this wierd to anyone or does this happen to you?

I was just thinking the same thing today!!

I personally do not like my boss and it carries over when he's around and I am just not as motivated to do my work, I know thats not a good thing but don't get me wrong I still do my job but I just hate the idea of him looking over my shoulder or talking to me like a child. When he's not there I am much more relaxed and want to get my work done. Did I mention I really don't like him!!

Sounds like you just get nervous when they're around you. I guess you feel if you mess up they'll fire you or something, so then you work in slow motion trying not to make a mistake.

I've had a friend who was just the opposite. When the bosses weren't around he would do only a little work to keep himself awake. But when they came over he would run around doing as much work as he could so they wouldn't fire him. He got raises because of what his bosses saw.

I'm sure what you do is normal, just don't go too slow when they're around you... you might get into trouble.

This is not weird at all. A lot of people are intimidated by people of higher authority. They feel that their actions and every move are being judged, and they give up trying because they feel like they can never do their job well enough to satisfy the authority figure. You have to develop the mindframe that your boss is the one who hired you and he/she would not have done so if he/she did not think you were capable of performing your job to the absolute best of your ability. Don't let yourself become intimidated just because you are their worker and you are not the boss.

Bosses can make a person nervous and then you make more mistakes, or whatever.
