It's sad but true. I went to private school through sixth grade. Then in seventh grade, I went to my neighborhood public school. I was constantly asked if I'd been born in Britain because I spoke such proper English compared to my classmates. I actually got in a fight because a group of girls said "you think you all dat, and you be talkin' all white and shyt". The rough translation of that was that I spoke in complete sentences, answered older people by saying sir or ma'am, and I didn't curse. Until I was admitted to magnet school in 9th grade, I was constantly be attacked for being "too white" or a "goody two shoes" because I only got As and Bs. When I went to Magnet school, whenever we went out for inter-school competitions the black students would say that we "was ******' sale outs. Y'all think y'all all smart and shyt." It's a shame that we as a race aattribute intelligence and successfulness to acting white and being a sell out. Are you saying I can't be something in life and still be a part of the black community.
Like Barack Obama said, "I'm a part of the black community, but I don't see why I should be limited to it or by it."

U know what usually I would get really upset reading this but u have a point. its so true because i go thru it. But my question is this what is white?? does this society only draw the line between black and white.everything is based on white and black when it is clear that there are other races that live in this world. But no ones says of your acting latino, asian, or middle eastern. what confuses me about this situation is that i have met white people that are poor, that cant speak proper english, cant read, thats rude, and has bad grades, and dropped out of school. i think with the black community we tend to live or lives based on what we see on the media which is completely biased. I dont give a **** what people think about me. i hardly ever used slang, i am working on my bachelors, and i graduated from highschool with 3.6, and recieve a 26 on my ACT, and i am black and proud of it!!

I've only heard people say that speaking like a Cali girl/guy and hanging around all white people( for any race other than white,) to be considered acting white.
I never heard anything about getting an education making someone act white. Someone's an idiot.

This is an easy one,and by no means do I mean this disrespectfully....It's laziness and looking for the easy ways out.
The Government uses the easy minded(and this is really all races) and says we'll take care of you,but no matter what skin color, hard work and determination is the real threat to the excuses we all make,Blacks included,to the desire to push beyond our surroundings and way of life and make it better for ourselves proves to be a threat to the masses of people whom arent willing to make an effort..in short, its easier to make excuses than to do it,thus they use the Uncle Tom reference

I wish I knew. I grew up hearing people say I "talk white" because I spoke proper and enunciated. It's stupid and I don't understand it because what they're really saying is since you're Black you're supposed to talk stupid and ignorant, get bad grades, be rude and lazy! I don't fall into that trap. I don't talk any certain kind of way but the right way!

satans work is done there . it is done often and it is successfull .
rap crap is just one example of the evil that comes from such thinking .
the smart ones dont give two hoots what other think of them instead they care what they think of themselfs they are the successfull ones. who do study work hard and sometimes manage to make a positve mark in this world despite the fact that there own race thinks they are uncle toms. .

Well educated black people dont think like that ( well the most of them) why should being a certain colour define who you are. It doesnt define me, why should other people think that being black, white or asian means anything, its means sh*t all.

You generalized blacks.
Those qualitys are not "white" they have no color. People who say that are jealous cause they can't get good grades.
