For years many people have known that using the "n" word to describe a black person is completely degrading and disrespectful. I completely agree with this. One thing I don't understand is why some black people don't have a problem with calling it to someone of their own race. The explanation that if you use it with the "a" ending instead of the "er" ending makes it okay is absurd. If black people that use the "n" word in regular conversation had lived through the civil rights era or especially slavery I think they would have a much different feeling towards the word. I think it is time they stop using the word period. It is time they showed some respect to their ancestors.

Nobody should be using the "N" word- period. First of all, it is a hateful word. As a result, I don't get why so many black people don't have an issue with using it for themselves. Aren't they putting themselves down in the process? Or making themselves look bad to others? It certainly doesn't make them appear any better to onlookers. And secondly, what makes them think others like to hear the "N" word? It's only going to heighten racial tensions. And thirdly, they may actually be promoting the use of the "N" word- and here's how. By using it for themselves, they are inplying that it's an okay or even fun word to use(which it isn't, by far). The use of that word needs to be stopped for the sake of everyone.

I think it is wrong to say the "n word" regardless of if it is aimed at a white person, black person, asian and so forth. Doesnt matter if it ends in "a" or "er" its disrespectful no matter how you look at it.
