It is not advised because A it is uncomfortable and b it is bad for you back and you certanly wont get a good nights sleep plus the baby is lying in a different way and it can be very uncomfortable the best postion is always to lie side ways and to try and nuse pillows for support if needed but somehow this may not be needed.
Lying side ways when you sleep is a good idea if you are stuck for ideas try books by dorling kindersleys guide to pregnancy and birth they are brill and they can offer you plenty of advice also have a chat with your mid wife.

The reason why they tell you not to lay on your back 4-5 months in pregnancy is because when you lay flat your uterus can press down on your lower nerves and the blood supply near your pelvis. It can cause cramping, reduced bloodflow in your legs and make your legs fall asleep. It can also make you nauseated and feel unwell if you lay like that for too long.
Im 37wks pregnant and regretfully you cant always help but lay on your back every now and then. As long as u dont do it for too long. There have been many times when ive gotten a cramp down near my pelvic area because of laying on my back. The only way to get rid of it is to lay on my left side.
Laying on your left side is the recommended position to lay in during sleep because, there are major blood vessels on the right side supplying blood to the lower legs.

There is a main artery in your lower abdomen and lying in this position when the baby is larger will cut off the blood supply.
If you are a back-sleeper, prop a pillow behind you to keep you from flopping back on your back in your sleep.
I had two failed pregnancies and learned of this technique and information and on my third attempt -- I got a healthy girl.
It is important and should be considered. Good luck with your delivery and happy times ahead!

i'm a militia spouse too. i understand on occasion my husband will say 4 yet he gets domicile at 7. One evening he had to assist flow some issues from one development to a distinctive and he did no longer get domicile till approximately 2 AM. inspite of the undeniable fact that, I relatively have in no way suspected him of mendacity and he consistently calls me whilst he's going to be later then he concept. you're quite no longer incorrect for feeling the form you sense. take a seat him down and consult from him. convey all your concerns as a results of fact he quite does could see how his movements are affecting you. If he's consistently mendacity to then you definately i'm unsure techniques to have faith him and that's a great element in a helpful marriage. you may ask him if he desires to make your marriage artwork. if so then it quite is quite useful to initiate seeing a counselor so which you 2 can get your emotions out in the open.

It possibly can reduce blood flow to your placenta because the weight of the baby can compact the aorta (major artery). However, most women find laying on their back uncomfortable and will not remain in such position long enough to do damage. So I wouldn't suggest worrying much about it.

I was never told this but I did read it on a pregnancy website (sorry can't remember which one). It's to help you look after your spine, the weight of your baby, uterus and placenta pushes down when you lay on your back, which causes a lot of pain. I did lie on my back now and then, but this was because I had hip pain, but I did regret it!!

because the uterus being that it is now bigger and heavier can lay on a particular blood vessels causing the blood vessels to close up (like stepping on a garden hose) and that can be bad for both you and the baby. Blood supply to the placenta can be affected and to you. Lie slightly on your back with a pillow propping you sideways a bit.

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and LOVE sleeping on my back, but I've also heard it's not very good because it cuts off circulation. Do your best to sleep on your side, but if you roll on your back don't panic. Mind you, once the belly gets much bigger laying on the side might actually be the only way to go! We'll have to wait and see!

Wow a lot of ignorance mixed with some intelligence... My doctor said its not advisable to sleep on your back due to cutting off circulation to yourself and or baby. I am finding that I seem to sleep 90% of the time on my back since I have been pregnant and talked to my doc about it. He said if it is a problem I would be in a lot of pain and my body would give me signs way before there was any damage to myself or the baby... this is my third child... due in Feb
Congrats to you!
Have a GREAT day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
