Hi Ernie,

Let me inform you of a little beaut pie shop attached to the side of the local Tavern in a very small town called Kirup. Kirup Is just roughly 2 hours southwest of Perth and is on the South West Highway (KIRUP DELI -South Western Highway, Kirup WA 6251
Phone: (08) 9731 6230) I have never been to Kirup for any other reason than to stop off for a pie on roadtrips down south, it has become like a ritual.. and seem's so for a lot of people coming from perth going down south.. (this little pie shop gets especially busy during motox season) They have very interesting home made pies ranging from your usual Beef or Chicken Casserol Pies to your more unique Lasagne or Mexican Nacho Pies..
This place is well worth the stop I usually buy a whole tray to take with me and freeze at home because they are sooo good.. and if you are stopping for a pie it is also well worth a wander into the tavern and picking up a local brew called "Kirup Syrup" from the pub too.. But then again as I'm sure you know all local produce in W.A.'s Southwest taste's exceptionally great!

Hey Ernie!!

I swear the best pie i ever had was from Dreamworld, on the Gold Coast!! I am not kidding. It was pretty big for a single serve pie, I was full all afternoon!! The pastry was perfect, not too flaky and not too soft, the filling was nice and chunky and the steak was moist and tender. At $4, it was very well priced as well, considering the quality and the typical trend of theme park prices being sky-high. The tomato sauce was good too!
You could do a whole segment on dreamworld, it's just opened up some new attractions, and make a point of the pies. They're in the Gold Rush part of the park.

You're a legend mate, a true blue Aussie, and a funny bugger!!

Oh, now I'm homesick and craving a meat pie and tomato sauce !!!!

The best meat pies are from Culley's Tearooms in Fremantle WA and Miami Bakehouse, Mandurah WA.

Culley's has always been a favourite since I was a little girl and it has become a family tradition to visit there. I always took my children whenever we went to Freo. When I come back for a visit it will be one of the first places I go and take my American husband ( for his first taste of a good old Aussie meat pie ) children and grandson!! Apart from the pies and sausage rolls, you have to check out their cakes !! Very yummy!!!

Driving south past Mandurah, stopping at the Miami Bakeshouse is a must!! So many different flavours !! Flaky pastry.... mmmmmm yummy. :-) Steak and kidney pie is my fav.

Now all I need is a great bakery here in Las Vegas that makes a mean Aussie meat pie!!!!!

Humble Pie Co in Billinudgel, far north coast NSW. Just 'great' pies and a large variety of fillings.

See http://www.humblepie.com.au

As they say on their website:

The Humble Pie Co is a manufacturer of a unique range of specialty pies, rolls and pasties. Established in 1982 as a family endeavour, it first appeared at the 10th Anniversary of the Nimbin Aquarius Festival. In 1998, the spectacular Garden Cafe was opened on the Pacific Highway at Billinudgel NSW and has long since become an institution for both locals and travellers alike.

'The Addictive Pie Shop' is located at North Haven NSW south of Port Maquarie.
The absolute best pies in Australia, there's a great range to choose from, my favourite being the pepper steak. All the pies are made with the best tasting beef and other meats I have ever had.
The shop is situated on the water front so you can enjoy the most beautiful views of the lake with your lunch. Every time I go up on holiday I get orders from all of my friends on what pies to buy to bring home to Sydney!

I would have to say Beechworth bakery are the best, and have won a few awards for their pies, and pastries.

They have a franchise in
Beechworth
Echuca
Albury
Healesville
Bendigo
Ballarat

In the beginning...

Originally a small one storey building, built in 1857 (with a second storey & balcony added around 1900), these premises in Beechworth’s Camp Street were once home to a shoe shop, a dining room and a pastry cook.

When Tom O’Toole bought the building the first time, it was known as the Ideal Café and Milk Bar, and had no tables or chairs.

He sold the building three years later in 1977, and moved to Augusta in Western Australia where he earned his stripes as a leading country baker.

In 1984 Tom returned to Beechworth and - again - purchased the bakery building, along with the draper’s building next door. Taking care to preserve the facade of the original building, major renovations were started (and continued on and off over the years.)

Hetherbrae Pies on the Pacific Highway in Port Maquarie NSW. Its next to the BP and McDonalds but the pies are 10/10. Great selection to choose from and most importantly, its value for money.

You would think that the best pies are in the outback in a remote town that only sees very few people, NO, its this pie shop on the Pacific Highway!

And hey, Im a Queenslander so im technecly ment to be braging about something here!
