Hebrew poetry has lots of inner styles, basing on the time and place were it took place.

Poetry appears in the bible ("song of Deborah", "song of the sea", "Psalms", "Song of Songs"...) and in the Talmud (poetry of our sages of blessed memory).
There is the Medieval poetry of Spain [Poetry of sanctity (shirat kodesh) and Poetry of secular (shirat chol)], the odes of Ashkenaz and the ditties of Italy and France.
The Modern Hebrew Poetry has developed by the end of the 18th century (mostly be European Jews) and became stronger during the 19th and 20th century in Israel.
