I am interested in the pros/cons of using an interactive whiteboard in a classroom? Anybody have any?

PROS

1. Novelty - you will have more of the students' attention just because you are using it rather than a regular board in the classroom.

2. Your finger on the screen acts as the mouse - easy!

3. You can go back to the beginning of the lesson (or just one slide) to review or let a student write down something he/she missed the first time around...

4. You can incorporate other programs into the lecture.

5. You can be in front of the classroom while teaching instead of behind the computer while trying to use the mouse to run the lecture (if your whiteboard is like a SmartBoard and projects).

6. You can save information and files.

7. Light pens allow you to highlight and/or add comments.

8. Lessons can be saved for review or for access by absent students.

CONS

1. Long setup.

2. Cost.

3. You don't want to teach off of the computer all day!

:o)
