I am 24 weeks pregnant. This afternoon I got up and felt lower abdominal muscle pain as I lifted my legs to walk. I did not do anything today to make this happen (such as lift anything or do anything extreme). I am wondering is this is just another joy of pregnancy, or if I should worry. It does not hurt when I am sitting, even if I lift my legs. It is not a cramp, either. So I am not worried about early labour.

Oh yeah, that sounds all to familiar! Mostly it's from the weight of the baby straining on one muscle rather than equally distributing her weight. It gets worse with each additional pregnancy and the further along you are. The best way to prevent this is to do in yoga and birthing classes what is called the "cat to cow" positions. Get down on your hands and knees, arch your back like a Halloween cat, hold it to the count of 10 then sag your back like an old cow, hold that for about 10 seconds. Keep it up as often as you feel you need to throughout the day. This also helps the pelvic muscles and bones prepare for child birth and it is totally safe for any stage of pregnancy. Unless you have strict orders from your obgyn to stay in bed, etc. Also, try JcPenny's or Sears, or a pregnancy/baby department store for a Belly Support Belt specifically for pregnant women. At night when you are tossing and turning, it helps to use your hand to hold your stomach while you are turning, that way you're not using just one muscle to lift your heavy tummy. I'm also 24 weeks, so congrats :P

I only seem to have pain when I've walked a lot, and the line drawn across a little and a lot has shifted quite a bit :P Today I felt pretty sore walking around campus between classes, and that was the fist time that little bit caused any difference in how I feel.

But if it was hurting before you even did anything, I would ask your doctor to be safe. Don't get to stressed about it though, that will only make things worse ;)

Your uterus is actually strechting to make room for the baby. I would only worry if the pain becomes more intense. But if you are still concerned I would call the doctor in the morning and ask them what they think. I am actually going through the same thing mine started about 24 - 26 weeks. good thing Im a week away from having my baby

You're right in the bracket for your round tendons to start kicking in. They hurt like holy freaking hell, and some times you cant even stand up because they pinch, pull, and are searing hot with pain.

The more you move and stay active the better it will be.

Its totally normal and part of being pregnant.

Your body is readjusting to your growing fetus. When it's labor, you'll be in more pain than just a few muscle pains. Trust me--you'll know labor from these pains.

However, I had those muscle pains too. Very annoying. Have your feet started to swell yet?

I have to agree with everyone above me but FaZizzle!
You should see your doctor, they can give you better advice than anyone on here can (legitimately).
