Fiji has done a very brave thing, by getting rid of government officials who do the wrong thing, just like the george bush administration who are doing the wrong thing by invading iraq. The moral of the story is each country has to mind its own business and stop trying to control other countries.

The Bush administration is pretty crappy.. and many, many of the soldiers i have talked with.. many of which i grew up with... don't agree with us being in Iraq.. but this is still a free nation.. and in 2 years we will be rid of Bush.. and the new congress can keep tabs on him till then... there is no need for the military to rise up against the government unless all our freedoms are truly taken from us... but like i implied.. we can still vote.

No I don't...A Military takeover of The U.S. Government, will actually make things worse. The Military in Fiji has promised elections at some point in the future but it really doesn't matter.

The Fiji Military has taken over the Government at least 3 other times already. If they don't like something the Government is doing, they jump right in and take over.

In a truly Free society, it should be the people who elect/replace their Government.

I don't agree that the Fiji Military did a brave thing...all they did was take the Freedom of the people to choose their leadership...away.

Though I do agree with you on the Iraq situation...we are there now and we can't just leave while that Country is so unstable.

On so very many levels, no.

Civilian control of the military is at the very heart of democracy. Without it, liberty and freedom are extremely fragile. Do soldiers have the same freedom of expression, the same right to privacy, the same same right to pursue happiness as civilians do? Not nearly. While a military coup would not necessarily make all people into soldiers, it would do away with civilian law and civilian rights in favor of military ways of doing things (if history is any teacher.)

If you don't like the current U.S. government, vote them out. If the military were to overthrow the government and you didn't like them, I doubt you'd be given the same opportunity to change the national leadership.

The reason we stand out and are a world power is because WE DON`T DO things like that . We have a more civilized way of handling things...

Ahh. Yes the classic thought of a bored nerd (with, I have no doubt to much money). If I thought you where serious I would insult you. If they tried a coup, he can always fall back on the Mariens. Remeber there under his command "Semper Fi" traitor. : )

It is only your opinion that Bush did anything wrong. What countries are we controlling exactly?

Conveniently we don't need to.

We had our own, entirely peaceful, version of coup this last November. We'll have another in 2008.

Bloodless is best.

Maybe they are not doing it, because the Bush administration is not doing the wrong thing. Have you thought about that one?
