they are affraid to lose to much money... and a all you can eat restaurant cannot ban someone from eating to much becauses its ALL YOU CAN EAT, they're taking a chance... i think it is wrong that casinos can ban people for that reason

Card counting is considered cheating as it gives an unfair advantage to the player. Though it is not as apparent as say installing a camera or mirror behind the dealer, the concept is the same.
The casino's advantage is having a large amount of money to cover winnings since dealers statistically, over a period of time, win. You might say that the casino already has an unfair advantage and card counting should be allowed because it just levels the playing field between dealers and players. I would tend to disagree. Players already know of the dealer's advantage, plus the casino tells the players what the dealer's actions will be for each hand they are played, it's really up to the player whether they want to take that chance. That's why it's called gambling.
Someone had answered that a casino can throw you out if you are winning too much. From personal experience, casinos will not throw you out if you are winning too much money (that is if you are not cheating, they will prosecute you if you are cheating). Actually, they will try to keep you in the casino for as long as possible or until they win their money back. They will give you rooms (for free, with attendant security guards), comp your meals, your drinks, get you a limo. If you win a ton of money, they will bend over backwards to make sure that that money end up back in their cage as oppose to another casino's cage.
That's why almost all casinos have some type of membership clubs that rewards customers and keep them loyal regardless of their winning performance. Because they know, in the end, the house always wins.

Both places have the right to refuse service to anyone.
It isn't right and isn't smart that they do it. Casinos are right to ban people who cheat to count cards, but people who can count without the aid of devices should be allowed.
Being allowed to beat the system if you are smart enough to do it would encourage gambling more--they shouldn't do anything to harm that myth. Simply changing the rules (allowing only a small range of bets on a particular blackjack table ($10-$50, rather than taking any bet from $10 to $500) would take away the benefits of team play and card counting and limit the profitability of those practices, while still allowing you to dream you could become a professional blackjack player.

Because they can.
And restaurants have the right to refuse service to any patron at their discretion, as well.
If the cost balance that has been calculated for the buffet is going to be thrown off by someone who takes advantage of it by taking a disproportionate amount of the food, causing a negative economic impact based on the cost of the overhead of preparing and serving the food, the business (which is in the business of making money and staying open) can limit or restrict them from using it.
If the cost balance that has been calculated for the casino is going to be thrown off by someone who takes advantage of it by taking a disproportionate amount of winnings, causing a negative economic impact on the house percentages, the casino (which is in the business of making money and staying open) can limit or restrict them from using it.

Because they are privately owned and have the right to refuse service on any basis aside from race. Card counting (as long as its 100% in your head) is not illegal but if they catch you they can kick you out. If you are simply winning too much money they can throw you out as well. So could the restaurant owner in your analogy.

I don't understand this at all.
As long as your are not using some sort of device to help with the card counting, I think it should be fine.
It's a skill. What other games on earth ban the use of skills?
Should someone not be allowed to play chess because they practice all the time, and they are good at it?
It's not cheating IMO as long as you do it in your head. It's using all of your abilities to win a game. Games are all about that arn't they???

As a privately owned businesses they should be allowed to deny service to anyone for any reason. An all-you-can-eat should also have this right. No business should be required to engage in practices where it is a forgone conclusion that they will loose money.

You said the answer when you said the casinos are privately owned. "Its my house and *I* determine who can play here". All they have to do is post the familiar sign: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason."

Because casinos (and the large companies that own them) make very LARGE contributions to the politicians who make those kind of laws.
