Let me start by saying I'm mostly a naturopath. I try very hard not to put any chemicals in my body. I don't drink, I don't smoke. I don't take Tylenol for headaches, NyQuil for sickess, or any prescription meds unless the doctor INSISTS I have to. The only medication I take is Yasmin. I started it about 3 years ago. I have always had anxiety but in the last 2-3 years it has gotten out of control. I have severe dizziness/vertigo. A total loss of energy. Backaches, breast soreness, etc. I tried to tell my doctor that it was the Yasmin and she said she's never heard of such side effects but I've been reading stories like mine all over the internet today. Does anyone have a similar story? I have tried other forms of BC and not had these issues. The only good thing I can say about Yasmin is it keeps me really regular. But the rest isn't really worth it. Please only answer if you have knowledge & can help! :)

your doctor or pharmacist should be able to tell you about side effects of Yasmin, and when you get your prescription, there should be some information on the back of the pharmacy label about it. Also, when birth control is dispensed, by law it has to have a little package insert inside the package somewhere with more in depth information about the drug.

you said you tried other forms of birth control and didn't experience those types of side effects, so maybe you should ask a doctor for a prescription for a different kind, perhaps with a different level or type of hormones in it. with the multitude of different oral contraceptives available on the market, it shouldn't be hard to find one that is right for you. if the doctor who prescribed the yasmin doesn't want to change your prescription, ask a different doctor.

I have been taking it for 11 months, and haven't really had any side effects at all. Of course a much shorter period, but I don't have a problem with that at all. My aunt however took it for three, and she had much heavier bleeding and it was more frequent. I guess it differs for everyone. Make sure you talk to your doctor about it, so maybe he or she will put you back on one of the methods you preferred. Good luck.
