It means OJ Simpson was found not guilty of double murder.

During OJ's trial, the prosecution had him try on the bloody glove found at the murder scene to see if it would fit him. OJ's defense team had argued the glove wasnt his size.

It was a horribly stupid move by the prosecution. Rumors have circulated that OJ was told by his defense team not to take his arthritis medication so his joints would swell. Also, because the glove was evidence and covered in blood, OJ had to put the glove on over a latex glove.

Bottom line: OJ "couldn't" get the glove on, leading Johnny Cochran to say famously during closing statements, "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit."

Its a phrase used by OJ Simpson's attorney during his trial that was publicly televised. Prosecution claimed the bloody glove found at the crime scene and the one found at his home belong to OJ and was used to murder is ex-wife Nicole Simpson. However, OJ's attorney's claimed that the gloves did not fit OJ and thus kept using the phrase "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit".

Johnny Cochran, O.J. Simpson's attorney said this during Simpson's murder trail. He was acquitted of the murders of Ron Goldman and his wife Nicole. He was describing a glove found at the murder scene thought to have been left by Simpson. It just means if the Glove didn't fit Simpson, he couldn't have committed the crime. Cochran got him off, and the rest is history. Except for the 34 million dollar wrongful death suit which Simpson lost.

It comes from the O.J Simpson murder trial. He was asked to put a glove on his hand that was introduced as evidence in the trial to see if the cut on the glove matched a cut on his hand. The glove didn't fit. Some believe because it was frozen and unfrozen so it shrank. His lawyer used the phrase in his closing arguement to let the jury know that the glove didn't fit his client so he could not be the murdered.

It's just a quote that derived from the OJ Simpson trial. The glove didn't fit, so he felt they should acquit. I dont believe it's used in normal trials anymore. OJ should've gone to jail.

LOL...it came from the OJ Simpson case. Where he claims the glove found at the murder scene did not fit his hand. Cochran told the jury, "If the glove doesn't fit, you must aquit." Meaning...if the evidence doesn't link OJ to the crime, you must find him not guilty...which the jury was stupid enough to do.
