does anybody know if guild wars costs a monthly fee to play like WOW or everquest?

no, just the fee to buy the game. I have factions and it is great, but the newest one is nightfall ($50). They are all stand-alone but characters my be transvered bettween games

I am happy to report that Guild Wars does not have any fees. May I suggest starting with Prophecies, then moving onto Factions and Nightfall. Fear not, you can take your characters with you.

all its costs per month is your patience, and it isn't even worth that
