Well my first thought was Heart. However, Heart consisted of 3 guys and 2 girls. So I guess it would be between The Bangles and The Go-Go's, but I think I'd lean more towards The Bangles.

The Go Go's! They opened the door for every other girl band. They have had many timeless hits including Our Lips are Sealed and We Got the Beat. The Go Go's defined girl rock in the 80s and they still haven't stopped! They even toured this summer. I love The Go Go's; they have so many great songs that anyone could love!

I used to love the sixties girl groups, even tho it was before my time and i hastened to add that for some reason.
Erm.....In terms of instant sales and global momentum i suppose i gotta give it to the Spice girls.i do not like myself too much for saying it.
in terms of musical quality is the answer whoever you say it is dear?!!!!!
