If you like 'Teardrop' you should try a song they did a few years before called 'Protection' which is also amazing.
I've never really focused on their lyrics, it's more the vibe that makes them so good.
It's been said by others here, but Liz Frazer of the Cocteau Twins is the singer on Teardrop and they are an amazing band. Especially on some of their earlier stuff she doesn't sing recognisable lyrics at all but the atmosphere is everything. If you loved Teardrop, try out their album Victorialand; it's brilliant.

I agree, and Liz Fraser is one of the best vocalists currently in the business (it's a crying shame she has now been absent for so long).
As with much of Liz's work with the Cocteau Twins, the lyrics are partially decipherable, and subject to much debate as to their content, let alone their meaning. She is often quoted as saying that the lyrics and word sounds are chosen for their sound and impact, to paint a picture, not to tell a story or have a meaning. This may be the case here.
Some have suggested that the song is about nuclear war, referring to an 'Operation Teardrop', and some of the interpretations of lyrics may support that.
Others have taken the video more literally and taken the song to be about the trauma of childbirth on a baby marking its entrance to the world, with lyrics related to both that and parenthood (e.g. 'most perfect mirror').
I still think it is a song crafted more on its sound than its meaning.

Great music, great lyrics i think that this song is awesome, remember yo don't have to know the meaning of a song to appreciate its poetry.
Sorry for my English i know that sucks

me too. I love this song. I don't know what it means, but my guess is she feels she is being taken advantage of by her lover, but still feels close to him. I don't know its just a guess.
