with every new release of software windows slows down and requires new hardware. Each new os x release runs faster and leaner that the previous... all with more features.

OS X , and it's cousin linux are both UNIX based... rock solid...

Windows is a mishmosh of nt + dos compatibility... rock head!

Hello annagarcia1992@sbcglobal,

I'm a Mac user, so I'm biased (I'll admit it). I've been using the Mac since 1987 and have enjoyed Mac OS X for the last 5 or 6 years and have yet to get a computer virus. Don't let any Windows guys tell you that there are viruses for the Mac OS X. There are none that have been released out on the public, like Windows. Don't believe the 10 percent story either. Vista already has computer virurses and it hasn't even been released yet.

No more system crashes with Mac OS X because of protected memory. The rare time that a program crashes, you simply re-launch it and it comes right back, no problem. Most of the crashes came from early development of Mac OS X programs. Mac OS X programs work really well. Apple really watches their developers closely.

There are only slight differences how the Mac OS X works next to Windows. You saw for yourself at the Apple store. Yes, I really appreciate how the Mac organizes stuff and it's easy for me to find files buried deep down inside the file structure with Spotlight. Check out Switch-101 here:

I hope that this will help you. Best of luck to you.

Mac OS HANDS DOWN!
I just have to respond to the post above. I've been using macs for several years. The person above probably hasn't used a mac since before the year 2000. I will admit that mac, back in the 90's did crash...but since Apple switched to unix, their operating system is very stable and RARELY crashes. I've had this iMac for a year, and I think I recall having to reboot maybe once. Macs are also easier to use, despite what was stated in the previous post. Apple makes user-friendliness a very high priority. Their Operating System and software is designed to be intuitive and easy to use.

WINDOWS HANDS DOWN! Now I respect other people's answers, but I must say that Macs will crash many more times than windows. Windows has alot of work put into it and a lot easier to use. Macs are very frustrating and believe me I have used both Windows and Macintosh. Macs have many bugs that are still there. I have been using windows all my life and have found nothing wrong with it. If you need further persuasion search for "macs suck" under the Google videos search bar. There you will find a very-well put together video. Hope my rambling has helped!

Sorry there isnt a simple answer no matter what anyone says, both have strong points and both have weakness. Personally for everday use I reccomend a Windows based PC as it will be able to run all program you have on your current PC, however if you soley check email and browse internet, this wont matter. If you enjoy alot of photo editing and video editing, the mac has some very nice software available, however most other types of software, such as games have very few offerings. As much as Mac's are boasted as be "perfect" machines, they arent, for most users Windows is a better choice.

macs are more focused towards a melting pot of media. the OS for windows doesnt crash as much because only ~10% of viruses are written for them. the latest macs they came out with you can run both windows and mac operating system, because mac switched to the intel chip. the price for a mac, i dont think is worth it. and the User Interface is more organized but it's completely the opposite of windows, so you'll have to teach yourself how to navingate/diagnose your computer.
Windows is coming out with a new operating system next year that looks as appealing as the mac UI. So in conclusion to this long boring novel, i wrote, i would stick with Windows. its more cost effective.

OSX is several orders of magnitude better than Windows. Definitely make your next computer purchase a Mac.

It really depends on you, but quite honestly I prefer Mac for one reason, I never have gotten a virus. Everyone knows that once in awhile even heavily protected computers get hit, but I've had my Mac Mini for about two years now and not even one virus, plus they're much more sleeker and orginized
