It is true that racism does not exist in canada like it does in the states. There is racism just not to the extreme it is in the states. Same goes for poverty, crime...etc. I lived in Vancouver BC for years and I would walk around 12 to 2 in morning, downtown all by my lonesome..catching the bus home after work. Nothing ever happened to me. It's a shock to hear that someone got stabbed at a night club or something, it happens but not very often whereas in the states I think this happens almost everyday.

I have lived in prairie Canada all my life. It would be flattering to think that what you say is true, but I'm not so sure. Canada is very underpopulated compared to the US, and I think that makes us a little less edgy. The more people have to compete for resources, the nastier they get with each other. Up here, there's lots of room, and certainly where I live we spend a good part of the year just trying to keep warm! A warm body is a warm body, eh? Doesn't matter where it comes from. Also, we have a history of taking care of one another that in the US would be considered socialist. However, I don't know how long that will last as programs get more expensive and resources tighter. I guess what I am saying is that our "niceness" - and we ARE nice - has more to do with the physical realities of our country and less to do with our human nature. I love my country with a passion, and will never live anywhere else.

I think that "better" is all in the perception. I live in Northwestern Ontario, which is really not much different from Northern Minnesota - we even sorta sound like them!
However, I'm not sure what the big difference is between Canada and the US is. We may have lower rates of crime, poverty and anything else you mentioned, but they are all still prevalent and visible. Perhaps the difference is in our beliefs, we are a friendly country that is widely accepting and tolerant. However, no country is perfect and Canada certainly has it's faults.
Hope this helped you out!

Like everywhere it relies upon the position in Canada you bypass. As I remember useful Canada is conservative, yet as you get out to coast on both end it type of feels to get more advantageous liberal, somewhat in larger cities. city parts are more advantageous liberal everywhere it type of feels. yet I heavily imagine many places are more advantageous suited than the u . s . as we talk. situation is in case you go away, and for that reason do not finally end up vote casting probably, you could not have a say in replacing the u . s . for the more advantageous suited. yet that suggested, Canada is large, very diverse, good housing values a minimum of the position i'm(in Alberta by way of wide boom housing costs a lot because there is only such extreme call for), we've a sturdy economic gadget, etc. so a techniques i have got here upon i love Montreal perfect for LGBT correct issues. Their gay village seems more advantageous like the only in San Francisco. i got here upon that slightly nicer than someplace like my city the position the gay village is only a bar. anyhow, back, this is all about the position you bypass, Canada is the 2d best us of a interior the international, that is a lot of room for persons to variety.

I live here and I think so... especially the part about crime, sure we have it too but it is more confined to big cities, there has never been a murder or any crime to do with guns in my town of 5500 people. When I hear a gunshot I am not worried because I know it is hunters in the bush, and I can leave my door unlocked without worry.

It depends on what your criteria are for "better". Canada is probably better than the US with respect to at least some of the criteria you named, but the US has higher wages, lower costs, and hence a better standard of living. The nice thing is that you can take your pick: one can immigrate from either country to the other (albeit with some hassles).

I must say yes, Canada is better. It's more peaceful, I guess. They watch our country make mistakes, and they are the ones who really learn from these mistakes in order to make a better future for their country.

Add HEALTH CARE to your list of things that are better in Canada. They generally do better than we do at just about everything except education and weather.
