If you get a kitten it shouldn't be that hard,a cat will take a little longer to get along with the dog. Dogs normally just want to play with the cat , cats are normally the ones that don't get along.
You might not have any trouble at all,it just depends on the cat and the dog.
To introduce them just take it slow at first, the cat might hiss or the dog might growl at each other, but after a few days,a week at the most things will have calmed down. GOOD LUCK!!

Confine your new cat to one medium-sized room with her litter box, food, water, and a bed. Feed your resident pets and the newcomer on each side of the door to this room, so that they associate something enjoyable (eating!) with each other's smells. Don't put the food so close to the door that the animals are too upset by each other's presence to eat. Gradually move the dishes closer to the door until your pets can eat calmly while standing directly on either side of the door.
Swap the sleeping blankets or beds used by the cats so they each have a chance to become accustomed to the other's scent. You can even rub a towel on one animal and put it underneath the food dish of another animal. If there are more than two animals in the house, do the same for each animal.
Once your new cat is using her litter box and eating regularly while confined, let her have free time in the house while confining your other animals to the new cat's room. This switch provides another way for the animals to experience each other's scents without a face-to-face meeting. It also allows the newcomer to become familiar with her new surroundings without being frightened by the other animals.
Next, after the animals have been returned to their original designated parts of the house, use two doorstops to prop open the dividing door just enough to allow the animals to see each other, and repeat the whole process over a period of days—supervised, of course.

Pups and kittens get along well within short time. More time and patience are necessary in case of grown up ones. First few days you leave them to live separately in different locations of your house and provide opportunities to get their glances exchanged now and then. Gradually each would come to know that both of them are parts of the family and that leads to familiarity. Slowly allow them to move closer with little caution. Naturally affinity develops and you would see how well they would get along beyond your imagination. Your patience and sensible moves are better guides in this regard. Good luck!

you have to be careful when introducing any other pet to an existing pet (especially dog) as they feel that they will be deprive of love and affection. Initially dog will not allow cat to get friendly with him/her. Keep them in different place/ room for few days initially and then increase their interaction with each other. But be careful as dog can physically harm cat.

they get along fine, since the dog has been there from before he considers himself as the alpha intoduce them gradually in your supervision . Be sure you or some one else is there to seperate them if they dont like one another. If u introduce a kiten that would be far better.

at first it may seem like they don't like each other much.
but if you bring them together a little at a time like having them in the same room together so they get used to each other.
and if you show both of them equal amount of attention you'll do fine!!!!
