when someone you haven't talked to in awhile calls you, do you ever say "i was just about to call you" when you really weren't planning on it?

why do people do that?

No, I usually only say that when it is true and someone I talk to a lot. I say "it has been a long time, so how did you get this number" if it is someone I haven't talked to in awhile then I make sure to change my number and not give it to anyone who will give it out like that.
If there are people who do that then clearly they have a got to be nice problem or they are very weird liars.

For the same reason when people call and say, "Oops. Sorry. Did I wake you up?" everyone always says no even when they did.

I always say, "It's ok. I had to get up to answer the phone anyway!"

I don't know...but I have a friend who does it EVERY single time I call her..."I was just thinking about you". Yeah, right. Haven't heard from you in six months, and 'you're thinking about me'? They feel guilty, I guess.

You know, it's my way of saying I was going to call you but I forgot.

They say it because they feel bad that they didn't call them sooner. It's a reflex of guilt.

I don't say things I don't mean. I hate it when people do that too.
It has to be my biggest pet peeve when people are not the real thing!!
