For some reason when I go 45mph during the day it seems much slower than going 45mph at night.

The reason you fell like your moving faster in the dark is because there are no moving objects and because you tend to pay more attention when moving in dark areas because something could probably jump out and kill you. When it is daytime you dont pay attention to what you are doing because you are either talking or working or playing and distracts you from noticing your speed.

You probably are going faster in the dark. People tend to drive faster at night when there are less people on the roads.

it is called depth perception. since u can't see very well in the dark objects reference points and the road are closer to you when u actually see them

One can not see obsticles on the side off the road as you pass them by, to determine motion.
