Can you name the film below, I know it sounds made up but my Mum insists it's true! Please help :o)!!
Approx 1980. Main character is a guy called Walter; it's set in the North of the UK. He is unemployed because he is retarded but he keeps pigeons. He is a full time carer for his Mum who is bedridden, until she dies. He is then taken to a mental institute when they collect him and find the house covered with pigeon poo as he moved them into the house. Once in the hospital is sexually abused by a severely patient in the next bed.

My recollection is that it was just called Walter and it was premiered on Channel four in the channel's first week of broadcasting - as was P'Tang Yang Kipperbang - another Brit made-for-TV film
