what is your favourite poem? DOes it have any special to you?
mine is
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

How Do I Love Thee? by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,--I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!--and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
This is the poem that I gave my girl friend and she cried and she reads it on our anniversary.

The More Loving One - W H Auden
Looking up at the stars
I know quite well that for all they care I can go to hell
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast
How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return
If equal affection cannot be
Let the more loving one be me
Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn
I cannot now I see one say
I missed one terribly all day
Were all stars to disappear or die
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime
Though this might take me a little time.
No special reason, I just think it's lovely.

Congrats on your recovery and that is a beautiful poem hon...the following is my favorite poet and one of her poems that I dearly love:
Emily Dickinson was born in 1830 and died in 1886. Her poem Not in Vain talks about the worth of her life.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain:
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
Yes it does. I not only volunteer for hospice but I also am a member of a local Relay for Life team that raises funds for cancer research...I designed a t shirt and used this poem on it..in addition on the front it said "mending hearts and lives one footstep at a time."

First, you can recover, I did, and that was over 10 years ago. I have a poem like your's, in a picture frame of my Brother that lost a brave battle to cancer. God Bless, and just be yourself.

Love Poem;
If There's...
If there's one face I want to see,
so beautiful, so true,
one smile that makes a difference,
to everything I do.
If there's one touch I long to feel,
one voice I long to hear,
whenever I am happy,
or just needing someone near.
If there's one joy, one love,
from which I never want to part,
it's you, my very special love,
my world, my life, my heart.

Dragon likes William Carlos Williams's poetry. Berry straight-forward and simple and pretty. :)
