The Macintosh. You can always load Windows on it if you want to, providing it's a current Intel based Macintosh, plus you'll have the benefit of using OS X, the worlds best operating system.

OS X is much better than Windows, and you can load XP on the new Intel Macs along with OS X. But the Apple hardware isn't great.
Macs almost never last more than three years, and can be difficult and expensive to repair compared to PCs.

'more better'....it depends on you.
your experience is with a pc i would imagine...why, because you get more for the money. but im guessing you dont like it because i crashes so often. only 10% of all viruses are written for macs because the os is coded slightly more complex then windows. but if you continue to look at porn and download programs that arent digitaly signed(or come from an untrusted source) well yes your pc is bound to crash. But dont fret just yet. Windows will be releasing a newer version called windows vista in early 2007, its visually pleasing to the eye just the same as a mac is.
and its more secure.
so as long as you keep windows up to date and your virus definitions current. the pc will hardly ever crash. besides...who in their right mind...who isnt a digital media artist of some caliber...would invest money in a mac that you could get a 2x 'more better' computer for the same amount of dough. but if you want to cough up that extra 600 for a mac just so you wont have your favorite pc programs on it, then go for it. actually i lied the newer macs have intel based chips so you can run windows. (but at what cost)....more $ $ $
sincerly mac hater

Well, I use both. The PC for my gaming and the MAC for my multimedia (songs, videos, photos, editing) plus on my MAC I don't experience crashes, viruses and spyware. So if I were you I'd get a MAC, you could still load Windows on it if you want and there are a lot of add-ons for the MAC nowadays.

I use a PC and have never used a MAC, i like the PC since thats what I use and it works for me. Someday hopefully I'll be unbiased on this question and actually give an answer that can be supported from using both systems.

What is your experience with either operating system? I would ask myself what system am I comfortable? I would ask myself this question because if I am comfortable with one system or the other I am going to get more (be more productive) use out of one or the other; for example, during the majority of the time I spent in post-secondary academia, I spent using the Macintosh. Therefore I feel more comfortable on a Macintosh and think I can accomplish much more on that side of this debate. .
