I think you make a very good point here. Too many people jump to conclusions and assume that a teen has been irresponsible. That is not the case all of the time. I have seen teens raped by their fathers, uncles and become pregnant. But no one thinks of that first. I believe the majority of teens who become pregnant have been irresponsible in some way. Adults knows exactly what it takes to prevent pregnancy and it takes a few simple steps. If the condom breaks, you can always go get the morning after pill. Although no one wants to talk about it, you can always have an abortion. Adoption is an option. Many people are saddened when hearing about teenage motherhood and that sadness turns into anger, anger that the mother has just thrown away her childhood and anger that the child will be the victim if the mother is not ready emotionally to have a child. Some of the highest risks factors of becoming a child abuse perpetrator (physical, emotional or neglect) is being single, female, and a young mother. This may explain why others become so judgemental. However being judgement does not resolve anything it only hurts others. Good luck to you.

I have nothing against teen parents. My mom had three children before she was 20. I would be a hypocrite if I thought less of these people. But, I saw how hard she had it. I saw what she went through, and what she had to do in order for us to get by. There are some responsible teenagers that do the right thing and accept what happened to them and are wonderful parents.
One of my best friends is now 20 and has a 3-year old. She is one of the best mothers I have ever seen and does anything for her son.
Not everyone is like that. And, I think there are a lot of girls out there that think if they get pregnant their boyfriend will stay, or they won't be alone anymore, or such nonsense. Having a baby for the wrong reason and then getting tired of it is just wrong.
So, to answer your question, the difference between the teen who has a baby and the teen who's having sex is that the teen having sex can stop at any time. The teen parent is a mom for life.

My guess is that people see the teen who got pregnant less responsible because they did not use birth control-and yes birth control isn't 100% effective but it's usually 97% and up if used correctly-to my knowledge. So I would say that's the reason that people look at teen mothers worse. Also, if a teen is having sex but doesn't get pregnant chances are they are not sharing this with everyone. A lot of teens have sex and don't have babies and they obviously cannot get "bashed" because no one knows (or has proof) that they are even having sex.

Yes, but birth control when used effectively can be almost 100% or over like when 2 methods are used the pill & a condom you are actually more likely to be hit by a car than to gey pregnant if the teen knows how to use the methods (saw it on the news) So I am more thasn happy to bash away, also I am 25 & waited until marriage for sex for moral resons as well as pregnancy. I have a great marriage, stable & comfortable life & 2 beautifull children. A mom that gets pregnant at 16 is not goping to be able to provide very much other than the necisseties & not always.

This is what gets me. Teens are a burden on tax payers. We both know that's not always true. We would have to pay the same amount if there were teens, roads to be built, or other cases. It's not all about teens--we don't pay taxes solely to provide for them.
There is no difference between the two as far as I'm concerned. There is a few ladies on here who think there is but there is not. For those who don't think you can get pregnant on birth control look at the source site.
Anyway I agree with you. It's sad how people will generalize before they even know the situation.

OK I understand but their is no difference.
I was a teen mom, I had my daughter at 18 and not married. And some teen mom's don't get pregnant by choice meaning date rape not unprotected sex. And this could happen only once unlike the ones that have sex with 50 people and never get pregnant but carry diseases. Yes you should wait but somethings we just have to learn on our own. I think that a lot of it is how many have you slept with along with the age. And I hate to say it by most pregnant teenage moms on here act as if they don't know how it could happen to them. There are so many scary thing out their that you can get and never get rid of you are better off waiting five years because you could be extending your life.

I hear you. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone right? I think people need to reach out and help sexually active teens make good choices and help teen moms be successful adults. Judging and being ignorant doesn't get people anywhere. I'm 22 and can't have children, but I probably could have when I was a teen, if someone had told me that I'd be a mom right now. The world is changing, it takes a community to raise a child and people need to support each other. I'm glad you posted this!

I have seen a lot of young girls on here that have posted questions about sex and are not pregnant and they are not handled gently either. When anyone...not just teens decide to have sex outside of marriage or a stable relationship it causes a lot of problems. Pregnancy is the least of the worries in my book. STDs can be deadly. Some are not deadly, but are not curable either.I know a girl that contracted Herpes when she was in 8th grade. A lot (Not all) girls/women that get pregnant and do not have a stable relationship end up on welfare because they are not able to take care of their child themselves, and it is really becoming a burden on taxpayers.

I wouldn't say there is a difference except one has more responsibility, I was pregnant at 18 it doesn't make me a slut I didn't sleep around with different guys, it has always been the same guy and now I am married to him with a second one on the way.
